The Ocean Operations Manager will be accountable for leading, directing and managing site operations to ensure consistent high level service quality and client satisfaction, profitable cost efficient operations, and compliance with company policies and procedures and other regulatory guidelines. Reviews operating budgets for revenues and expenses and monitors compliance to contracts.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead, direct and manage site operations to ensure that the operations staff executes service agreements at, or above the client's standards.
- Maximize profitability through superior client service, effective and prompt communications and follow-up on all pending matters with the client.
- Plan and monitor daily staffing schedules, and adjusts accordingly to ensure adequate staffing levels that support operational demands and business objectives.
- Manage revenue and expenses to budget constraints.
- Responsible to train, develop and motivate employees to peak performance and growth in their knowledge and responsibilities.
- Oversee accounts receivable, including client invoicing and collections, as needed.
- Process incoming vendor invoices (cost of transportation and overhead expenses), as needed.
- Analyze market trends to further develop scalable and strategic operations practices.
- Execution of the applicable KPI’s per company standard.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Walking within the warehouse and inspecting freight.
Other Skills/Abilities:
- Computer Literate.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web based and job specific software applications.
- Ability to manage the financial aspects of the department (purchasing, budget preparation and review, financial reporting and monitoring expenses).
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 7 years related experience required.
- Minimum 6 years industry experience required.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience required.
Certifications and Licences:
- Professional certification may be required in some areas.
