The City of Fort Worth Police Department is seeking to hire a Sr. Planner in the Research and Planning Section in the Program Support Division to manage and/or assist with planning related projects and initiatives. The Division provides support to the department including crime data reports and statistics, strategic planning, performance reporting, ArcGIS, urban planning, facility planning, resource allocation forecasting, law enforcement planning, and website administration. This position is located at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, 505 W. Felix Street, Fort Worth, TX 76115.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Planning, Urban Planning or Design, Public Administration, Urban Geography, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in planning, urban design, research and statistical analysis or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Geographic Information Systems and American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
- Advanced experience with ArcGIS, Microsoft Office, Power BI (similar programs), Adobe, and other digital publishing software.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with advanced research methods, creating dashboards, problem solving, and data collection by applying analytical, statistical, mathematical modeling, and forecasting skills.
The Sr Planner job responsibilities include:
- Manages data collection efforts, analysis, development and implementation of complex planning projects, meeting facilitation, and crime suppression initiatives. This may include working independently or leading a team or other employees and identifying trends or needs and making recommendations.
- Provide critical information such as official crime statistics, data reports, data dashboards, patrol beat analysis, growth and development patterns, impacts of annexations, population projections, anticipated servicing needs, research regarding proposed policies/legislation, special studies, etc. Liaison with the Fort Worth Lab.
- Conduct Geography Information System (GIS) analysis including creating various maps/hotspot maps and provide departmental GIS support.
- Coordinate and lead the development and implementation of Police Department initiatives including a Five-Year Strategic Plan.
- Lead the development or update of Departmental goals, objectives, performance measures, and policies.
- Serve as support staff to the Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors.
- Assist in updating the department website.
- Lead or assist with facility planning, design, and construction projects.
