Job Description
About the Role:
Nielsen’s IT Portfolio Management Office (PMO) leads the company's most important technology projects. We set the standards for how this work gets done.
We're looking for an experienced Agile Coach to join our team. This isn't a typical coaching role where you're assigned to one team. Instead, you'll be a central expert, working from our PMO to mentor the many different project teams across our IT organization.
Your main goal is to help these teams get better at using Agile practices like Scrum and Kanban. You'll be the person they turn to for guidance, helping them deliver great work efficiently and consistently.
Qualifications
Who You Are:
You're a natural teacher. You are passionate about helping people and teams grow. You find real satisfaction in mentoring others and seeing them succeed.
You lead by influence, not authority. You know how to build trust and credibility. People listen to you because you’re helpful and knowledgeable, not because of your job title.
You're a pragmatist. You know the Agile "textbook" but understand that real-world application requires flexibility. You can adapt practices to fit the situation.
You connect the dots. You can see the bigger picture beyond just one team's problems. You look for patterns and opportunities to improve the entire system.
You are patient and curious. You start by listening. You ask great questions to understand a challenge before jumping to a solution, and you know that meaningful change takes time.
What You'll Do:
Coach and Mentor: Be the go-to expert for our Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and their teams. Help them run their projects smoothly and solve problems.
Improve Our Practices: Help us refine and promote our company-wide standards for Agile projects, making sure they are practical and effective.
Train and Teach: Lead workshops and training sessions to teach teams the fundamentals and advanced skills they need to succeed with Agile.
Find and Fix Problems: Guide teams to spot bottlenecks in their workflow and help them find smart ways to improve.
Use Data to Improve: Help teams choose and track the right metrics so they can see their progress and make data-driven decisions.
Build a Community: Bring our Scrum Masters and other Agile practitioners together to share ideas and learn from each other.
Work with Leaders: Partner with IT and business leaders to help them effectively support their Agile teams.
What You'll Need:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience.
Around 8+ years of experience working in technology or business, with at least 5 of those years as an Agile Coach or a senior Scrum Master.
Expert knowledge of Scrum and Kanban.
Proven experience coaching several teams at once.
Excellent communication and people skills, you should be a great listener and teacher.
Nice to Haves:
Experience working in or with a PMO.
Familiarity with scaling Agile in a large company (using frameworks like SAFe, LeSS, etc).
Advanced skills with tools like Jira and Confluence.
Agile certifications (like ICP-ACC, PSM II, A-CSM, etc).
