About the role
The Senior GIS Tools Specialist is a domain-specific subject matter expert in GIS Tools Development, SQL, Python, and JavaScript. This role focuses on workflow optimization, process documentation, and tool development to support operational efficiency. Acting as a liaison between the Operations and Engineering teams, the Specialist ensures the smooth technical functioning of tools and workflows across the organization.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyze and resolve complex software/tool-related issues.
- Coordinate tool releases and updates as needed.
- Test tool fixes, changes, and new features in collaboration with engineers.
- Submit code changes for tools when required.
- Develop new tools and dashboards based on team requirements.
- Diagnose global geo-related issues across software, Linux, and Windows environments.
- Triage and debug complex issues affecting domain throughput; consult on edge cases.
- Create, maintain, and improve domain-specific workflow documentation.
- Conduct training sessions on new workflows and policy updates.
- Communicate effectively across teams with excellent verbal and written skills.
Requirements
- Proficiency in English (minimum B2 level).
- 5–10 years of experience in GIS, including at least 5 years in a similar domain.
- Proven experience in leading teams.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, SQL, and JavaScript; ability to develop PLX scripts and workflows.
- Hands-on experience in GIS Tools Development.
- Technologically savvy with fast learning capabilities and a self-starter mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with a proactive attitude and a passion for learning.
- Innovative mindset with the ability to identify and implement improvements.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Quick adaptability to new processes and tools.
