Senior Consultant – Underwriting, Reinsurance

The associate consultant will work as part of a dynamic and future-focused team with ambitious profitability goals, learning all aspects of underwriting across our global portfolio of business. We write casualty reinsurance business in most territories around the world, although the successful candidate’s focus will initially be on Europe. You will have the opportunity to assist in the development of our strategic partnerships with these clients. No prior reinsurance knowledge or experience is required, though you will need to be a numerate and analytical thinker and keen to work in a collaborative and diverse team environment. You should also be interested in a longer-term career in financial services.
You will have an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience, receive valuable on-the-job training and learn more about the reinsurance industry and ultimately progress to underwriting your own client portfolio.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Analysis and preparation of client exposure data for the purpose of populating pricing tools
- Provision and structuring of the necessary information for peer reviews and committee referrals in order to support the underwriting process
- Collection, analysis and interpretation of large data sets, which may involve seeking out additional data/information from external sources.
- Research and project work to provide underwriters with information that enables them to identify additional potential client targets, make informed underwriting decisions & work alongside underwriters when analyzing the business (market intelligence work, claim reviews)
- Mastering of Qlik and extraction of various reports at underwriter’s requests
- Monitoring of the performance of proportional treaties
- Working with internal departments, such as finance, claims, technical accounting, underwriting support
- Providing data analysis and technical support to underwriters. This includes working with client submissions, exposure data, loss histories, and various pricing models
- Entering data to Xlerate
- Developing knowledge about the aviation industry/products
SHARE your talent
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a field with a high numerical focus, such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related Sciences.
- Relevant industry experience in reinsurance or a closely related discipline where transferable skills can be applied.
- outstanding numerical proficiency, with proven ability to manipulate data accurately and extract key insights.
- Demonstrated aptitude for solving new and unexpected problems.
- High attention to detail, ensuring rigorous and accurate work.
- Commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.
- Proactive and adaptable approach to organizing, planning, and managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative to develop solutions and simplify complex concepts.
- Proven track record of improving processes for simplicity, speed, and efficiency.
- outstanding personal drive for excellence and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to identify inconsistencies in data.
- Desire to be helpful and responsive, demonstrating a proactive 'can do' attitude.
- Effective time management skills, including task prioritization to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable taking ownership of work while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Resilient and adaptable, able to adjust to changing conditions and priorities.
- Capable of performing well during busy peak renewal periods.
- Willingness to travel within a defined timeframe (up to 8 consecutive weeks).
- Fluency in English; proficiency in any additional European language is a plus.
