Job Description
This is a remote position.
We are looking for a hands-on SAP Operations / ALM specialist to lead and operate change control, test management and solution documentation activities across SAP landscapes. This is not a generic SolMan consultant role — the candidate must have deep, demonstrable experience with ChaRM, Test Workbench and maintaining solution documentation in SAP Solution Manager. The role will support release cycles, ensure quality gates are met and keep system documentation accurate and audit-ready.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate and govern ChaRM processes: ticket lifecycle, transport orchestration, approvals, emergency fixes and release management.
- Configure and operate Change Request Management workflows (including CTS+, transport routes and landscape handling).
- Manage and run Test Workbench: design test plans, create and maintain test cases, execute test runs, manage test cycles and report results.
- Maintain and author solution documentation: technical and functional documentation in Solution Documentation, building and updating requirements-to-implementation traceability.
- Coordinate with development, basis, DBA and infrastructure teams to ensure transports are applied safely and rollbacks are planned.
- Support release and cutover activities, drive quality gates and readiness checks.
- Implement and improve ALM processes and automation where possible (integration with CI/CD, automated test triggers, test data management).
- Produce test and release artefacts for audits and compliance (SOX, regulatory as required).
- Troubleshoot ChaRM/Test Workbench issues, drive root-cause analysis and preventative measures.
- Train and coach application teams and support staff on ChaRM and Test Workbench best practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 4–6 years hands-on experience with SAP Solution Manager (7.1 / 7.2) in production environments.
- Proven deep experience operating ChaRM / Change Request Management and transport management (CTS/CTS+).
- Strong knowledge of Test Workbench: test plan creation, test case management, test execution and results reporting.
- Practical experience with Solution Documentation: creating process maps, building requirement links and maintaining implementation documentation.
- Good understanding of SAP landscape topologies and transport routes across DEV / QA / PROD.
- Experience supporting SAP releases and cutovers; familiarity with emergency transport handling.
- Basic knowledge of ABAP or ability to read transport logs and coordinate with developers.
- Experience with integration between Solution Manager and ALM/CI tools (Jira, Git, Jenkins) is a plus.
- Familiar with audit/compliance needs: ability to prepare artefacts and evidence for audits.
- Solid problem-solving skills and demonstrable track record of reducing rework and failed transports.
Behavioural / soft skills
- Clear, structured communicator able to work with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail; disciplined about runbooks and documentation.
- Proactive, takes ownership of incidents and release issues.
- Comfortable working in 24/7-support environments and participating in on-call rotations if required.
- English fluency; local language as required by the assignment.
Nice to have
- Experience with Focused Build / Focused Run.
- Knowledge of automated testing tools integrated with Solution Manager (eCATT, CBTA, or third-party test automation).
- Exposure to cloud-hosted SAP landscapes (HANA, S/4HANA migrations).
- Experience with SAP Transport Management Tooling and third-party transport orchestration.

International project – cybersecurity domain with real-world impact
