An Office Assistant job is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department / West Division Administration. The West Division is comprised of both the Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Division. Patrol is responsible for answering the calls for service within the division and the Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation of offenses that occur within the division, as well as case filing with the Tarrant County DA’s office when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED.
- Two (2) years of responsible clerical experience.
- Microsoft Office suite, multi-tasking, grammar and proofreading, organization and time management.
- Must pass Drug Screen, Physical, Tuberculosis screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Working knowledge of budget systems.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures of department, as well as Federal, State and local laws.
The Office Assistant job responsibilities include:
- Answer phones, respond to emails, and provide assistance to the public, city staff, and officials regarding departmental and city policies and procedures.
- Schedule appointments and meetings as needed.
- Order and maintain office supplies, including for the patrol and detective offices.
- Prepare routine forms, letters, reports, and other documentation using computer software; input records and assemble reports.
- Deliver professional and courteous customer service; respond to or refer inquiries, complaints, and service needs appropriately.
- Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Position typically requires touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.
Physical Demands
Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
