Your role
The Market Data Services (MDS) Category & Sourcing lead role is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing and category management strategies for all MDS-related sourcing needs. The MDS Category & Sourcing lead role optimizes costs, manages supplier relationships, manages data compliance and aligns procurement activities with UBS’s technology and digital transformation goals.

- Lead a team of Category Managers and Sourcing Specialists in building and executing category and sourcing strategies (incl. development of vendor plans and procurement strategies, building of partnerships). The definition of the category strategy includes, amongst other things, the identification of value opportunities, the profiling and segmentation of spend, the analysis of cost structure (industry and internal), the analysis of supply & demand market dynamics, the assessment of market position, the definition of internal future requirements, the identification and quantification of procurement category risks, the definition of the go-to-market model and optimal commercial strategy to interact with suppliers, as well as the category strategy implementation plan
- Be accountable for the category performance delivery across all Category Scorecards dimensions, overseeing the measurement of all KPIs and implementing remediating actions where needed.
- Negotiate MDS related Complex Deals and accountable for the commercial performance of the entire team vs. set commercial targets
- Manage and drive large, complex and group wide relationships with key strategic vendors, ensuring compliance with Vendor Risk Framework and foster a commercial partnership approach and avoid value leakage
- Act as business advisory lead for the Business Divisions/ Group Functions (e.g. queries on Logistics Platform, RPM, TPRM). Maintain stakeholder relationship and answer business queries on various MDS vendor & services topics, (e.g. service descriptions, alternative options, cost reduction levers)
- Proactively identify and address non-compliant data usage with the business, ensure proper licensing is in place and that the business is informed on market data usage policies going forward.
Your team
You will be working in the MDS team. The team is part of the Supply Chain organization, a function in Group Real Estate and Supply Chain (GRESC). Supply Chain was created to enhance value identification and delivery within GRESC, supporting UBS with its third party vendor management as well as with its Real Estate and Outsourcing footprint.
Your expertise
- Ideally 15+ years of procurement-related experience, in category management, VRM and/ or sourcing
- Deep understanding of the MDS domain, including products and services, usage rights, third party policies, market dynamics, key drivers, intersection with technology
- Proven experience in contract management, procurement, or a related field.
- Experience in identification and evaluation of new and emerging technology trends (e.g., AI), tools, and vendor capabilities to support digital transformation initiatives
- Strong strategic and analytical mindset coupled with ability to set and deliver on financial targets
- Expert negotiation and deal making experience
- Ability to communicate with senior management; excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong people management and collaboration skills
