Department Overview
Motorola Solutions Finance Operations Center (F.O.C.) provides world-class finance, accounting and purchasing services to Motorola branches in the Europe, Middle East, Africa, US and Latin America regions. It is a dynamic environment where your ideas and input will be valued and where you will do some of the best work of your life.
The General Ledger department is in charge of General Accounting, Global Fixed Assets, Statutory & Taxation activities for Motorola entities in the region.
Job Description
Be responsible for Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance obligations for the organization across various EU Member States by performing various tasks, if required with the support of statutory accountants and other tax team members
Compile and analyze data from various sources, prepare comprehensive information packages for external service providers to ensure accurate and timely filing of VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat declarations and other indirect tax filings across various EU jurisdictions
Manage and reconcile VAT accounting data, ensuring correct VAT treatment of transactions (e.g., input VAT deduction, output VAT, reverse charge, exemptions)
Oversee VAT reporting, registrations and de-registrations in relevant EU countries
Conduct VAT health checks and reviews to identify areas of non-compliance, potential savings, and process improvements to create greater efficiency and productivity
Ensure alignment between indirect Tax filings, EU Sales Listings and ERP / other systems
Work on automation and system enhancements; contribute to continuous improvements by proposing ideas, participate in projects and apply any agreed changes to the processes
Support VAT audits and inquiries from tax authorities in various EU Member States
Help develop and maintain clear VAT policies, procedures, and internal guidance
Monitor VAT changes and work on implementing necessary changes to systems and processes to ensure ongoing compliance
Review balance sheet tax accounts reconciliations (CIT, VAT, WHT)
Work with the support and in close collaboration with other tax and wider GL / FOC / MSI team members
Basic Requirements
University degree in Finance, Accounting or Tax Law
Min. 3 years of relevant finance / tax experience
Professional tax qualification with a specialization in indirect tax/ VAT is preferred
Very good command of English
Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with Finance and non-Finance staff at various levels
Strong attention to detail, highly organized
Ability to handle multiple tasks and to work under time pressure
Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and tax reporting software (e.g. Vertex, Avalara, EB tax) is preferred
Very good Excel skillset
German language beneficial
