Position Summary
This position will play a key role within the Intercompany team, reporting directly to the Intercompany Manager. The person in this role is responsible for leading and supervising all the operational IC work within the assigned cluster and act as first point of escalation. This role requires demonstrable ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder management relationships.
What you will do
Key operational responsibilities:
Supervise team of accountants to timely completion of the closing schedule and daily intercompany activities
Perform regular reviews of Journal entries and balance sheet accounts to ensure the accounts are properly stated
Development and management of the team, ensuring the team deliver against business needs and environmental change
Set and communicate clear strategy and direction to the team, including performance objectives and development
Supervise core process performance (effectiveness, efficiency and continuous improvement), controls and compliance
Present regular Intercompany updates to stakeholders
Actively review end to end business processes, irrespective of ownership, to address root cause problems that create business inefficiencies
Ensure accounts are properly reconciled with documentation to support account balances in accordance with Stryker’s corporate finance policies
Acts as escalation point for the accounting team and local business partners
Ensures regular monitoring of the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance processes
Proactively identify and report any compliance issues or emerging risks and development and implement mitigation plans
Key People Management responsibilities:
Supervise staff of professionals, including senior accountants and accountants to ensure all deadlines are met
Ensure teams work in line with established company HR and recruitment guidelines
Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
Delegate tasks to direct reports in line with skill, knowledge and ability and where necessary identify skill gaps and training requirements
Ensure staff has access to appropriate training for new and existing staff as needed
What you will need
Degree in Business and Administration
Professional certification in accounting (CPA or equivalent)
Fluent in English, other language is a plus
Familiar with Sarbanes Oxley Act and/or other internal control concepts
Knowledge of US GAAP would be an advantage
Familiar with Hyperion and ERP systems
Maintain regular communications on performance and development
Ability to establish and communicate priorities
Ability to organize resources to achieve objectives
High level of honesty, integrity, commitment and responsibility
Ability to manage and motivate
Accustomed to working under pressure and with deadlines
Able to resolve problems and conflicts in a professional and tactful manner
