Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

• be technically opinionated and consistently apply software engineering best practices such as abstraction, testing, usability, and version control to develop sustainable and reusable solutions,
• work collaboratively and pragmatically to address complex scientific software engineering challenges related to quantifying test article effects,
• coordinate effectively with both local and off-shore engineering teams to support software development activities.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience developing tools for data analysis; seniority level will be determined based on experience and other relevant factors,
• proficiency in Python, particularly with Flask or Django frameworks,
• experience with frontend development using JavaScript and React,
• familiarity with building and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs,
• hands-on experience with source code management tools,
• working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases such as Postgres and MySQL,
• experience with AWS cloud services,
• understanding of High Performance Computing (HPC) systems,
• experience supporting data science initiatives with FAIR data management principles and reproducible research practices,
• biological domain knowledge and basic data analysis skills are a plus but not mandatory,
• ability to work iteratively and effectively within agile development methodologies,
• enthusiasm for contributing to a scientific environment, particularly in drug discovery and development,
• ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and creatively drive ideas to implementation,
• motivation to solve complex, generalizable problems in bioinformatics software development,
• capacity to perform well in a dynamic, fast-paced setting,
• pragmatic approach to balancing features, quality, and delivery timelines.
