We are seeking an Senior Embedded Engineer to join a non-commercial, EU-funded research project focused on developing drone and robotic systems for reconnaissance and demining operations at sea.
This is a part-time role (10–15% workload), based in Europe, with potential field trials and testing in the Baltic Sea region. The project will run for 3 years and involves hands-on deployment, system validation, and real-world operations.
Requirements
Proven experience in developing drone systems and autonomous robotic platforms
Expertise in UAV/USV hardware, sensors, and autopilot control (e.g., MAVLink, Ardupilot)
Strong background in electronics troubleshooting and hardware reliability
Ability to set up and maintain wireless communication systems for UAV/USV platforms
Knowledge of AI/ML-based perception and navigation solutions
Familiarity with navigation principles (GNSS, ToF, etc.)
English level: Upper-Intermediate or higher
Responsibilities
Develop and integrate embedded solutions for UAV/USV platforms
Participate in launching, testing, and maintaining drone systems during sea trials
Troubleshoot electronics and hardware on-site, ensuring operational stability
Support prototyping and improvements based on real-world performance
Collaborate with engineering teams and project beneficiaries across Europe

Reliability and responsibility for launching, repairing, and maintaining systems
Availability for travel and hands-on participation in Baltic Sea field tests
