Senior Business Data Analyst

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Data Analyst to join our team in Austin, TX. This role will play a critical part in analyzing existing business processes, identifying data pain points, and translating complex business needs into actionable requirements for new systems or system enhancements.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data analysis, business requirements documentation, and process optimization, with a proven ability to collaborate across both technical and non-technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze existing business requirements, data flows, and system functionalities to identify gaps and opportunities.
Elicit, document, and refine business requirements, Epics, and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to align system capabilities with business goals.
Create and maintain data dictionaries, business requirement documents, and data mapping specifications.
Design and present visual data models and dashboards to communicate trends, KPIs, and timelines.
Lead data-focused meetings, workshops, and interviews to gather requirements and drive issue resolution.
Provide actionable insights and recommend improvements to enhance business processes and data management.
Required Qualifications
13+ years of hands-on experience as a Business Data Analyst in the IT industry.
Proven expertise in analyzing data-driven business problems and providing actionable solutions.
10+ years designing and optimizing data workflows and data management processes using modeling/mapping tools.
Strong proficiency in writing Epics and User Stories (functional & non-functional requirements).
8+ years in creating data documentation (data dictionaries, BRDs, data mapping).
Experience designing data models & dashboards for trends, performance, and project timelines.
Demonstrated ability to lead workshops, interviews, and meetings to gather and clarify requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple data projects concurrently.
Work Environment
Hybrid Role: Combination of onsite (4601 W Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX 78751) and remote work.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding State holidays)
