Senior Cloud Engineer
- Ensure cloud services are integrated, delivered, and operated as required
- Work with and support third parties in providing cloud infrastructure services
- Work with software and data engineers to translate technical designs into cloud operations
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation
- Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Provide input into overall management – workforce, budget, technology roadmaps, projects, and tasks
- Lead and direct infrastructure specialist teams in building, managing, supporting, and maintaining solutions according to architectural guidelines
- Develop proficiency in the scripting tools and software that are essential in the design, build, management, and operation of cloud infrastructure solutions and services
- Use scripting to automate common cloud infrastructure management and operations tasks
- Proficient in Terraform, Python, and Bash
- Design, implement, administer, and support cloud infrastructure technologies and solutions. These technologies and solutions can include computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS), and opensource packages and solutions. They can also include virtual and cloud computing such an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS)
- Identify information security risks and the controls that can be used to mitigate threats within solutions and services
- Competently apply a modern standards approach and guide others to do so
- Own an issue until a new owner has been found or the problem has been mitigated or resolved
- Initiate and monitor actions to investigate pattens and trends to resolve problems
- Effectively consult specialists where required
- Determine the appropriate remedy and assist with its implementation.
- Determine preventative measures
- Take inputs from stakeholders and establish solutions that facilitate the achievement of business objectives
- Design systems characterized by medium levels of risk, impact, and business or technical complexity
- Select appropriate design standards, methods, and tools, and ensure they are applied effectively
- Review the systems designs of others to ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology
- Define the integration build
- Co-ordinate build activities across systems
- Understand how to undertake and support integration testing activities
- Develop a thorough understanding of the technical concepts required and effectively communicate how these concepts apply to the wider technical landscape of IT
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience (7+) in infrastructure engineering or a related role
- Proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects and leading technical teams
- Significant experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud infrastructure
- Deep expertise in network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.)
- Comprehensive knowledge of server and storage systems
- Advanced proficiency with virtualization technologies
- Advanced scripting and automation skills
