Security Monitoring Platform Senior Engineer
Security Monitoring Platform Senior Engineer is a subject matter expert who coordinates activities within the Security Monitoring Platform Streams. This role collaborates with CDC teams, internal and external stakeholders globally. The position is responsible for engineering, implementation and operations of the company’s global logging infrastructure (incl. SIEM and UEBA platforms).
Key tasks & responsibilities:
- Design, implement and operate the global centralized security logging infrastructure: data-pipeline, SIEM and UEBA platforms to collect and analyze security relevant data of the entire IT infrastructure in scope as basis for global security Monitoring.
- Translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements for configuration and effective improvements of a logging and security monitoring strategy that agrees with legal, technical, and functional security requirements.
- Regularly identify white spots and gaps within log-source coverage/health and provide guidance how to close them
- Proactively inform stakeholders in a timely manner about upcoming infrastructure and platform changes
- Steer the continuous improvement of the related processes and platforms
- Ownership of best practices relating to logging, monitoring, and SIEM standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish, maintain, and continuously improve monitoring, alerting, and reporting
- Steer the onboarding processes and health monitoring of data sources necessary for the development and sustainment of dashboards, reports, alerts, and KPIs needed to support security visibility throughout the organization.
- Regularly develop and publish KPIs which show the value of and health state of the platform to internal stakeholders
- Periodically re-evaluating currently adopted tools for continued effectiveness in relation to the evolving strategy.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Expert level knowledge of at least one data-pipeline, logging, and analytic platform
- Experience in IT infrastructure, SIEM, IT Security, or related field
- Strong understanding of IT and enterprise systems incl. business processes and data
- Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
- Experience guiding a work stream of IT security professionals with both physical and virtual presence
- Experience with IT Service Management platforms and clear understanding of ITIL processes such as Incident and Change Management.
- Experience with identifying, measuring, and reporting performance metrics in a form that is easily consumable by senior IT Leadership
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in global teams
- Interest in overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, processes, to serve as a subject matter expert for security monitoring technologies.
- University degree or equal experience, preferably in the area of Information Technology with experience in large enterprise environments
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
