- An honours degree in a relevant subject area.
- Qualified Teacher status with a minimum of 5-7 years teaching experience.
- Proven experience teaching in an English-speaking school environment.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of: School curriculum (English National Curriculum – Secondary) and associated assessment methods, a sound working knowledge of IB and IGCSE, up to date knowledge of curriculum developments.
- Proven leadership and people management skills in educational institutions.
- Budget management experience.
- Experience of timetable construction.

- Responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Upper School (Key Stages 4 and 5).
- Development of a high-performance culture, for students and staff.
- To lead, develop and enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the Upper School.
- Staff development, including new staff induction and staff professional development reviews.
- Performance management of staff, including assessment against professional standards, work scrutiny, development of job descriptions, monitoring of attendance and punctuality, development of a culture of accountability and collective responsibility.
- Line management of the members of the Upper School, including direct and indirect supervision of their work, as appropriate. Coaching and development of the members of the Upper School in their roles and in their general professional development.
- Line Management of key personnel such as the Deputy Head of the Upper School, Heads of Subject Departments and the Secondary School Secretary.
- Planning and managing the efficient and cost-effective deployment of staff.
- Management of individual staff issues, including recommendations to the Principal about contract renewal or release.
- Assisting the Admissions and Marketing teams in all the Upper School student recruitment matters, including meeting and engaging with prospective parents and students.
- Ensure clear channels of communication within the school and with parents.
- Responsible for the overall pattern of events in the Upper School calendar, and for maintaining a reliable diary of forthcoming events.
- Liaison with the Senior Leadership Team in the purchasing of all teaching and learning resources.
- Responsible for building links with parents, including particular nationality groups. Responsible, with the Principal, for working with the community group and class representatives.
- Responsible for the look and feel of the Upper School, including general atmosphere, display material, electronic noticeboards and tidiness.
- Effectively manage budgets and expenditure in line with our strategic vision.
