The Role:
Joining Moderna offers the unique opportunity to be part of a pioneering team that's revolutionizing medicine through mRNA technology, with a diverse pipeline of development programs across various diseases.
As an employee, you'll be part of a continually growing organization, working alongside exceptional colleagues and strategic partners worldwide, contributing to global health initiatives. Moderna's commitment to advancing the technological frontier of mRNA medicines ensures a challenging and rewarding career experience, with the potential to make a significant impact on patients' lives worldwide.
Moderna is solidifying its presence within our international business services hub in Warsaw, Poland, a city renowned for its rich scientific and technological heritage. This hub provides critical functions, meeting the growing demand of Moderna’s global business operations. We're inviting professionals from around the world to join our mission and contribute to the future of mRNA medicines. Join a company where digital innovation and cutting-edge science meet. Moderna is building world-class systems to support its global Finance and Treasury operations—and we are now hiring a Systems Engineer, Finance AI & Automation to shape our next-gen automation and AI capabilities.
This Warsaw-based role will focus on designing and implementing automation, AI, and advanced analytics use cases across Finance domains including Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Procurement. You'll serve as the technical architect and delivery lead for scalable automation solutions—working with stakeholders to convert pain points into practical digital products embedded into daily enterprise workflows.
This is a hands-on engineering and strategy role at the intersection of GenAI, data engineering, and Corporate Applications/ERP integrations. You will have a unique opportunity to contribute directly to enterprise-wide transformation through the implementation of cutting-edge AI tooling and process intelligence.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Your key responsibilities will be:
Leading the discovery and requirements gathering for automation and AI opportunities across Finance.
Building and deploying scalable automation solutions using AI/ML platforms, Python, APIs, or low-code tools.
Designing and testing GenAI-based automations, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
Embedding automation into enterprise platforms such as SAP, Kyriba, Workday, BlackLine, Oracle EPM, Concur, and Ariba.
Collaborating with data engineers to build robust ingestion layers and ensure high-quality data inputs for intelligent automation.
Aligning technical delivery with compliance, auditability, and operational continuity across Digital and Finance stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will also include:
Evaluating and implementing tools for bot automation, document extraction, and anomaly detection.
Partnering with IT security and compliance to ensure solutions meet enterprise audit and risk standards.
Managing and prioritizing a backlog of automation use cases, incorporating feedback from Finance stakeholders.
The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:
We digitize everywhere possible – You’ll champion intelligent automation to eliminate manual workstreams and surface real-time insights in core Finance operations.
We behave like owners – You will take full accountability for delivering tangible outcomes and raising Moderna Finance’s digital maturity through hands-on engineering, not just delivering project outputs.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
3+ years of experience in automation or software development, ideally within Finance.
Proficiency in Python, APIs, and modern development practices (CI/CD, modular architecture).
Familiarity with basic frontend development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build or modify simple web pages or forms.
Exposure to web frameworks like Flask (Python) or Express.js (Node.js) for building small backend applications or automation services.
Working experience with structured data formats such as JSON, CSV and performing basic transformations or validations.
Experience building and deploying automation or AI use cases in a corporate setting.
Hands-on experience integrating with AI tool APIs, including basic use of chat/completions and function calling (experience with the OpenAI API is a strong plus.)
Strong knowledge of Finance operations (e.g., reconciliation, accruals, invoice approvals, forecast automation, tax validation).
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience implementing RPA (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate) and AI-based anomaly detection.
Familiarity with corporate application integration such as SAP S/4HANA, Workday, or Ariba integration workflows.
Experience designing and testing GenAI applications in operational settings.
Ability to author clear technical documentation and collaborate with finance SMEs.
Experience in life sciences or regulated industries is a plus.
