As Moderna continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, the company is building a world-class international Moderna Enterprise Solutions Hub (MESH) in Warsaw. The MESH center will house key functions such as Finance, Pharmacovigilance, HR, Digital, and Compliance—creating a foundational shared services ecosystem to support Moderna’s international footprint.
As Senior Associate, Indirect Tax, you will be a critical part of Moderna’s global tax compliance team, reporting to the Indirect Tax Senior Manager. Your primary focus will be managing indirect tax compliance activities across several jurisdictions, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of reporting obligations. You will apply your expertise in VAT and other indirect tax processes across Europe and other global markets supported by MESH, while offering guidance to internal stakeholders and contributing to broader tax-related initiatives. You will work at the intersection of finance operations and digital tools, with opportunity to engage in continuous improvement and innovation initiatives that align with Moderna’s bold digital ambitions.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Your key responsibilities will be:
Managing VAT compliance and reporting for several jurisdictions, primarily across Europe, within required timelines
Preparing VAT returns (monthly, quarterly, annual) as well as sales listings, domestic listings, purchase listings, SAF-T, and Intrastat reports using automated tools
Conducting transactional reviews to ensure entries align with local tax regulations and company policies
Maintaining high standards of data accuracy and integrity throughout the tax compliance process
Monitoring internal controls over the Indirect Tax process, including reconciliation oversight
Providing regular updates to stakeholders on tax legislation changes and their impact
Collaborating closely with the Indirect Tax Senior Manager and the broader International Tax team
Serving as a key liaison with commercial and functional teams to ensure alignment on indirect tax treatment
Your responsibilities will also include:
Acting as a subject matter expert on indirect tax for cross-functional initiatives and special projects
Supporting process improvements to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance scalability
Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders across the MESH organization
Providing day-to-day support and strategic insight on VAT matters, audits, and ad hoc queries
Ensuring Moderna’s tax compliance framework supports business operations and evolving regulatory requirements

As a sole contributor supporting multiple international jurisdictions, you’ll need to act with autonomy, ownership, and accountability. You'll proactively identify risks, propose improvements, and advocate for smarter tax processes that extend far beyond routine reporting.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline required
In progress of tax accreditation, a plus
3+ years of related experience in indirect taxes is required; public accounting experience, pharma/biotech company preferred
Strong tax technical skills including expertise in VAT
Experience with financial systems including SAP, Blackline and Microsoft Suite of products
