Summary:
Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a qualified LOLE26 OPFOR Non-Linear SME to support NATO’s Joint Force Training Center (JFTC) Exercise LOYAL LEDA 2026 (LOLE26). Exercise LOYAL LEDA 2026 (LOLE26) aims to be an ambitious NATO Major Joint Operation (MJO) Exercise and a major challenge for all exercise participants. The complexity of the setting, scenario, and the integration of Non-Linear (Land/Hybrid) activity of the Opposing Forces (OPFOR) requires expertise and specialised experience to ensure realistic and challenging dilemmas are crafted and delivered to the Primary Training Audience (PTA) and Secondary Training Audience (STA). The complexity of modifying the scenario documentation produced by Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) for STEADFAST DETERRENCE 2025 (STDC25), STEADFAST DUEL 2025 (STDU25), and JFTC for LOYAL LEDA 2025 (LOLE25) in accordance with the requisite level of detail in the Non-Linear domain for the purposes of LOLE26 requires that the work packages be in line with the scenario team to modify and update material accordingly and in pace with the production of JFTC modified products. This is a short-term assignment not expected to last more than a total of 26 days over the course of three phases:
- Phase I. 08 – 12 September 2025; Preparation and execution of LOLE26 MEL/MIL Incident Development Workshop; located at the Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland (up to 5 man-days).
- Phase II. 12 – 22 January 2026; LOLE26 OPFOR Workshop 2; located at the Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland (up to 11 man-days).
- Phase III. 26 February – 12 March 2026; for LOLE26 EXCON Training and E-Block; located at the Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland (up to 15 man-days).
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Work Package 1. MEL/MIL Incident Development WS
- Support OPFOR product development phase.
- Contribute to develop specific OPFOR Non-Linear SoM.
- Further, develop/ construct OPFOR exercise framework.
- Develop OPFOR pre-scripting material (non-linear documentation).
- Provide support to MEL/MIL Incident Development WS.
- Liaise/ coordinate product requirements with Event Managers.
- Work Package 2. OPFOR Workshop#2/ MEL/MIL Scripting WS.
- Support OPFOR product development phase.
- Contribute to develop detailed OPFOR SoM.
- Further, develop/ construct OPFOR exercise framework.
- Refine OPFOR pre-scripting material (non-linear documentation).
- Provide support to MEL/MIL Scripting WS.
- Liaise/ coordinate product requirements with Event Managers.
- Work Package 2. LOYAL LEDA 2026 EXCON Training/Execution.
- Support OPFOR product refinement/ validation.
- Support quality checking of all OPFOR documentation prior to release.
- Refine OPFOR pre-scripting material (non-linear documentation).
- Coordinate with CAX/ GEO specialists in relation to OPFOR elements.
- Liaise and coordinate closely with Event Managers.
- Support dynamic scripting efforts in relation to OPFOR.
- Support EXCON training serials in relation to OPFOR.
- Support execution of Wargame (OPFOR).
- Collaborate with the Chief OPFOR, Scenario Lead and their respective superiors to establish coordination and production requirements.
- Collaborate with Modelling and Simulation (M&S) and Geospatial specialists to facilitate simulation requirements.
- Collaborate with other concerned NATO and allied organisations to coordinate OPFOR requirements.
- Understand the development necessary, with respect to OPFOR, to facilitate exercise design and training objective (TO) achievement.
- Assist in the coordination of Subject Matter Experts’ (SMEs) input.
- Assist in the development of the required OPFOR products.
- Assist in the development of OPFOR aspects of the baseline scenario.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of Main Event List /Main Incident List (MEL/MIL) events and scripting workshops.
- Assist in the development of OPFOR familiarisation training.
- Develop and deliver various briefings/ presentations and products with OPFOR related content.
- Provide critical input in support of active lesson-learning.
- Archive and catalogue non-linear documentation.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Three years within the last ten years of working experience in a J2/A2/M2/G2/OPFOR staff element in national or NATO Force/ NATO Command Structure HQ on tactical or higher level, or at JWC/JFTC operating non-linear and/or hybrid OPFOR/SITFOR elements during a NATO exercise.
- Demonstrated recent (within past five years) experience in the position of OPFOR/ SITFOR SME operating non-linear and/or hybrid OPFOR/SITFOR elements during a NATO exercise.
- Demonstrated recent (within past five years) knowledge and experience of Nations OPFOR doctrine and concepts and their implementation in a simulation system.
- Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge (within past five years) of peer adversary on a wide range of NATO strategic, operational and tactical level military thinking, doctrine & concepts.
- Demonstrated working knowledge/experience of NATO Functional Area Systems (FAS) TOPFAS and INTEL FS.
- Demonstrated recent (within past 5 years) knowledge and experience with NATO Setting 360 / OCCASSUS.
- Ability to operate effectively within a larger exercise planning team.
- Ability to work within a multi-national and multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to effectively brief complex subject matter to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Demonstrated proficiency in English as defined in STANAG 6001 (Standardized Linguistic Profile (SLP) 3333 - Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) or equivalent.
Clearance: Must possess an active NATO or U.S. SECRET or higher security clearance.
Location: NATO Joint Force Training Centre, Bydgoszcz, Poland
Travel: CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required.
