1. Design & Engineering:
- Oversee the preparation of detailed shop and mold drawings using CAD and other relevant software.
- Develop and optimize mold designs for improved manufacturability, cost reduction, and durability.
- Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of composite components.
- Implement best practices for composite structure design and production efficiency.
2. Mold Production & Industrialization:
- Lead the industrialization process of mold manufacturing, optimizing production workflows and material usage
- Evaluate and implement automation and lean manufacturing techniques to enhance efficiency
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for mold fabrication and composite manufacturing
- Ensure seamless integration between design, engineering, and production teams
3. Quality Control & Process Optimization:
- Establish quality standards and inspection processes for composite components and molds
- Monitor and improve production processes to enhance product quality and reduce waste
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies to optimize mold-building processes
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations
4. Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise and mentor a team of 20 engineers within the composite department
- Conduct training and development programs to enhance team skills and knowledge
- Foster a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
5. Project Management & Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and production teams to ensure project deadlines and budgets are met.
- Manage resources effectively, including materials, labor, and equipment, to maximize efficiency
- Maintain clear communication across departments to ensure smooth project execution
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in composite manufacturing, mold design, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of composite materials, mold-making techniques, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software, with good knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD being a plus.
- Experience with automation, lean manufacturing, and industrialization of composite production.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate across departments and with external stakeholders.
Optional
- Knowledge of advanced composite techniques such as vacuum infusion, pre-preg, and RTM.
- Experience in the marine, automotive, or aerospace industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and quality standards for composite manufacturing.
