About the role:
As a Chief Accountant/Head of Accounting and Taxes, you will play a critical role in establishing and leading the accounting function of our newly set-up manufacturing operation in Poland. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for building a reliable and compliant accounting organization, supporting financial transparency, and enabling efficient business operations.
You will help shape a high-performing, purpose-driven team culture – one that values ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role requires hands-on leadership and offers a rare opportunity to build and scale accounting processes from the ground up, using MS Dynamics 365.
Your responsibilities:
- Build and lead the accounting function within the Polish entity of Aira
- Ensure timely and accurate statutory and group financial reporting in accordance with local and international standards
- Oversee general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable/receivable, tax compliance (VAT, CIT)
- Coordinate monthly and year-end close processes, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting packages
- Drive the development and documentation of accounting policies, internal controls, and process improvements
- Support ERP implementation and optimization (MS Dynamics 365) in close cooperation with global finance teams
- Collaborate with external auditors, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders to ensure transparency and compliance
- Coach and develop an accounting team committed to excellence, accountability, and team spirit
- Partner with the Finance Director and controlling team to support data-driven decision-making
What we expect:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an international manufacturing environment
- In-depth knowledge of Polish accounting and tax regulations; IFRS knowledge is a plus
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (preferably MS Dynamics 365)
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Proven experience in building or transforming accounting teams and processes
- Proactive, structured, and collaborative approach
- Very good command of English (minimum B2 level)
