Purpose of the role
As the AML Team Leader, you will manage a team of AML Analysts, ensuring the workflow is handled in compliance with Dentons Europe policies and procedures as well as efficiently by providing support and direction.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the gathering of the documentation and risk assessments obtained during client and matter opening processes, assess the adequacy and completeness of such in conjunction with agreed procedures.
- Implement and manage all necessary oversight controls ensuring the compliance of the law firm with applicable legislations, regulations and internal policies as well as procedures.
- Take ownership of rather complex cases and/or analyses, consulting with your line management.
- Oversee sanctions and PEP list screening process.
- Conduct continuous quality checks and provide feedback to the team.
- Set the direction for the team and establish individual targets aligned with the overall Risk Europe strategic goals and service level agreements.
- Hold development dialogues with direct reports, setting and monitoring technical and soft skill targets.
- Provide continuous feedback and conduct annual reviews, following up on targets. Foster knowledge sharing within the team and the broader organization.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience performing AML/KYC reviews in the legal services industry
- Good knowledge of the current and new regulations in the EU
- Fluent in English, and knowledge of any other European language would be an advantage
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and management in a discrete and confidential manner
- Confidence and persuasiveness, with the ability to motivate colleagues and support the embedding of positive compliance and risk management culture Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Learning and development
- You will receive training on a day-to-day basis by coaching and mentoring
- Personal development plan will be agreed on an annual basis
- Attendance to internal training including webinars, workshops and workgroups as may be required
- Attendance at external seminars and training events as may be required
